New Order Supply of Cold-Rolled DC01-C390 according to German Standards

This customer has been our company's partner for over 8 years, specializing in the production of automotive spare parts. They used to supply to engine gear factories, but with the decline in sales of fuel-powered vehicles, they have gradually developed new projects. For instance, they have recently started receiving various orders from Continental Europe, many of which use materials specified by European standards, including SAE1010, SAE1045, 42CrMo4, SAE1065, and other commonly used European standard grades.

In the past two years, due to the impact of the pandemic, many domestic automobile factories faced disruptions in raw material transportation, affecting domestic production. Consequently, most automobile factories in China have tried and accepted the use of domestic materials as substitutes for imports. This has also led to an ample supply of European standard, American standard, and other automotive steel grades in the domestic market.

Recently, the customer received a new batch of order plans, requiring materials for testing, specified as DC01-C390. This grade is from the German standard EN 10139, with DC01, DC03, DC04, DC05, and DC06 being the base materials processed through hardening. Based on different hardness and strength requirements, they are classified into various grades. For instance, DC01-LC indicates a simple cold-rolled state, referring to ordinary cold-rolled materials, with a maximum hardness of HV115 and a tensile strength in the range of 270-410 N/mm². Further hardening results in different grades, such as DC01-C290, DC01-C340, DC01-C390, DC01-C440, DC01-C490, DC01-C590, DC01-C690, among others.

Upon receiving the testing plan, we quickly arranged a process plan based on the customer's product requirements. According to the process settings and target thickness, we procured cold-rolled steel coils from Baosteel's DC01 series. After slitting and degreasing, we proceeded with the hardening process. After comparing the hardening results at different thicknesses, we ultimately selected a thickness suitable for the customer's stamping needs and product characteristics, confirming the final product hardness to be between HV130-140.
